【中1授業紹介】Philosophy

中学1年生　国際生ADVANCEDクラスの「Philosophy」の授業のようすをご紹介します。

Philosophy Alex Dutson Philosophy is where we think about life’s big themes: knowledge, truth, mind, freedom, love, destiny, identity. Last week, we watched a video of a gigantic Rube Goldberg machine (which uses a complex sequence of chain reactions to perform a simple task). Students were asked to fill the room with as questions – as many as they could think of – from “How many things are there in the video?” to “Where was it filmed?” “How much sacrifice was involved in making this video?”. We divided the questions into two types; “find out” questions, and “argue about” questions, and students voted for their favourite philosophical question: Do alternate futures exist? We spent the rest of the lesson discussing it together.
